Luke 5:1-11 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets.  Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.  So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.  When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken;  and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.”  So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. HOW DO YOU LAUNCH OUT INTO THE DEEP? STEP 1 – LISTEN TO THE WORDS OF JESUS The disciples listened to the words of Jesus to loan him their boat. The disciples listened to Jesus as he taught God’s word to the crowds. The disciples listened to Jesus to launch out into the deep for fish. What is Jesus saying to you about your depth in him and service to him? If your answer is, “I don’t know, then you are not listening.” If your answer is different from your actions and place of service, you are disobedient. STEP 2 – LET DOWN YOUR NETS After much disappointment, they followed Jesus to try again. After much work, they followed Jesus to work again. After much experience, they followed a carpenter’s advice for fishing. STEP 3 – FALL AT JESUS’ KNEES Realize your deep need for Jesus. Realize his supply of forgiveness. Realize his supply for your provisions. Realize your deep need to follow of all his instructions. STEP 4 – SAY ‘YES’ TO HIS CHANGES Peter said yes to a new profession. Peter said yes to new friends and co-workers. Peter said yes to new places.

Exodus 15:26 “He said, ‘If you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, who heals you.’” HEALING HIS WAITING CREATION Romans 8:22-23 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. Revelation 22:2  On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 2 Corinthians 5:16-19 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 1) The creation groans as it waits for redemption. 2) All Christians anticipate the redemption of their bodies. 3) The creator calls for all mankind to be saved. HEALING HIS WORLDWIDE CHURCH Ephesians 4:11-13 So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 1) In Unity 2) In Knowledge 3) In Maturity 4) In Christlikeness HEALING HIS WOUNDED CONGREGATION 1 Cor. 1:11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. 2 Cor. 2:5-11 If anyone has caused grief, he has not so much grieved me as he has grieved all of you to some extent—not to put it too severely. The punishment inflicted on him by the majority is sufficient. Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow.  I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him.  Another reason I wrote you was to see if you would stand the test and be obedient in everything. Anyone you forgive, I also forgive. And what I have forgiven—if there was anything to forgive—I have forgiven in the sight of Christ for your sake,  in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. 1) Healing the Instigator 2) Healing the Injured HEALING HIS WEAKENED CHILD Acts 13:13 From Paphos, Paul and his companions sailed to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them to return to Jerusalem. Acts 15:36-39 Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, “Let us go back and visit the believers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord and see how they are doing.” Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, but Paul did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work.  They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas took Mark and sailed for Cyprus… 2 Tim 4:11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry. 1) A Weak Brother 2) The Warring Workers 3) A Wonderful Helper
